Urgent: New Resolutions as of 06 Sep 2020

Decision of the Supreme Committee for Communicable Diseases under the Infectious Diseases Law No. 45 of 2018

The decisions taken as of September 05, 2020 are as follows:

A re-evaluation will be performed on the expiry date of this order.

B) In cases where the polymerase chain reaction test twice is negative, it is unlikely that the test will become positive in 3 days and transmit disease. For this reason, it has been deemed appropriate to exempt persons from Group B countries who will enter our country with a double negative PCR result from quarantine practices provided that they remain in the TRNC for a period of less than 3 days (including the third day).

C) Students who will come to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus due to their higher education will be quarantined in the dormitories or hotels specified by the university for a period of 7 days.

D) Quarantine requests for those who travel abroad for health reasons will be evaluated if submitted to the Ministry of Health.

E) Applying for those coming from countries in category (C): Persons coming to our country must document the result of a PCR test, which is performed within 0-120 hours before the date of boarding and has a negative result, upon entering the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Quarantine will be applied in the designated quarantine centers for a period of 14 days upon entering the country. If needed, people in the quarantine center can be tested for PCR.

2. Due to the recent spread of disease and local cases in Vadili, İnönü and Akdoğan regions, weddings, meetings, etc. have been suspended for 14 days from 07 September 2020 (including 07 September 2020) until 20 September 2020 (including 20 September 2020). Collective gatherings are prohibited. All schools in this area have been postponed for 14 days.

3. a) If it is noticed that these rules are not followed despite all warnings about social distancing in organized entertainment areas and in open spaces. Beaches, Christmas celebrations, etc. If the general safety and distancing rules are not followed, companies or restaurants and bars that do not follow the instructions will be closed.

B) In addition, if the rules to be followed in weddings and similar outdoor organizations are not followed, restrictions will be imposed on weddings.

4. Restaurants, cafes and catering places will continue to operate as long as they abide by the rules of hygiene and social distancing. If these services do not comply with the established rules, their closure will be on the agenda.

5. Measures to be taken in the transport sector. The driver’s cabin must be separated from the passengers by a partition. Meanwhile, windows must be open, air conditioners must not be used, and everyone on a bus or vehicle must wear a mask. Records of the passengers’ name, surname and addresses must also be kept.

NB:
• No changes have been made to the PCR test requirements required of people coming from Category B at the time of entering the country.

The following persons will be exempt from this quarantine fee:

Persons entering as a student

People who traveled abroad before September 6, 2020

– An order to transfer patients from the Ministry of Health and send it to individuals or patients.
