The closed city of Varosha, known as the ghost city, was one of the most important holiday resorts in the Mediterranean before 1974. It is a frequent destination for many famous names. Varosha’s closed beaches will open on Thursday, October 8th.
Closed Varosha, is one of the most popular places in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus , and in Cyprus in general , it directly closed its doors after the split before the split in 1974 after the war.

Why was the city closed down?

With the exception of those with a military card, who reside in dormitories for the army and registered taxis, no civilian vehicles or pedestrians are allowed into Varosha.

As one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Mediterranean region in the early 1970s, Marash was home to European millionaire businessmen and celebrities, and world-famous names such as Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren, and then it was left to become the “ghost land”.

The neighborhood Marash, Famagusta in the TRNC, was the most famous district in the country. Marash is known as the Las Vegas Mediterranean. The city of Marash, also known as the “ghost land”, was closed for settlement in accordance with the decision taken by the United Nations .
Residents of the city left all their properties inside, in homes and companies, even in car showrooms, there were cars from 1974 that were not driven by anyone and left behind until now.

Marash was captured by the Turkish Armed Forces during Cyprus II operation in 1974 on August 13 (which ended that day)
